Recommended Voice-only Devices
There are many free phones to choose from for a Voice Only Plan with a two year agreement. Due to the simplicity of the device OIT does not recommend any one make or model. Please visit the AT&T website to research the device that best suits your needs. Use the following credentials to log in:
Username – PrincetonU (case sensitive)
Password – princeton
Follow the online steps to create a new account. The website is view only and will not let you checkout and purchase a device.
Tablets, Netbooks and Data Cards
Tablets and netbooks allow users to travel without an external data card. The card is embedded and needs to have a plan activated just as you would with any other service from the carrier under the Princeton University corporate plan.
Tablet buyers: There is currently a bug in the Android OS that prevents users from operating on the University WiFi network. Please bear in mind if you purchase an Android tablet and expect to use it on WiFi daily, you will not be able to. You will have to purchase a data plan from AT&T to have network access. All other functionality is fine.
External data cards allow the user the ability to move the broadband service to more than one device. This is useful for business users that have a need to connect with more than one device. (i.e. tablet, laptop, netbook etc.)
