Sarah Fassberg, Ben Gurion University
Sarah grew up in Jerusalem and now lives with her husband Tom in Be'er Sheva in the Negev. She studies Jewish thought and Geography at Ben Gurion University and plans on studying at the Kerem Institute for teacher training. She was an active member of the Conservative, and later the Reform Youth Movement in Israel—taking part for a year 'Mechina' – living, studying and volunteering in Jaffa along with a group of friends who felt they wanted to build a Jewish community based on shared values. In the army , she was the equivalent of a social worker on a basic training base for soldiers with criminal records. Later, she was a commander of the course training soldiers for their service as social workers. Afterward, she travelled to Ethiopia and India and hiked the 'Israel Trail' for 3 months. She then studied Patisserie and worked in a bakery in Jerusalem, before deciding to move to Be'er Sheva in order to study for her BA.
