Princeton Trademark Licensing Overview & Policies

Princeton University’s Office of Trademark Licensing (TML), a department of University Services, serves as a clearinghouse for all trademark licensing issues and a resource to the Princeton University community. The Trademark Licensing program’s goal is to protect, promote, and enhance the University’s image through the use of its name, trademarks and logos owned by the University.

Individuals and organizations wishing to use the University's trademarks on commercial products must obtain permission to do so by securing a trademark license through TML.

In addition to merchandise licensing, TML serves as a resource to the Princeton University campus community. TML manages the filing and maintenance of Princeton University’s trademark registrations, examines and pursues opposition and infringement concerns and serves as the contact point relating to general trademark registration inquiries and requests.
