Parking Permit Information
Members of the campus community who need to park on campus must obtain a permit from Transportation & Parking Services. A valid parking permit consists of a hangtag and a decal. Both must be displayed for a vehicle to be legally parked on campus. Faculty and staff who register multiple vehicles can obtain additional decals, but are issued only one hangtag. Faculty and staff who register multiple vehicles will be responsible for switching the hangtag to the vehicle that will be parked on campus. Faculty and staff are encouraged to remove their hangtag while driving.
To avoid the risk of unwanted parking citations, the vehicle hangtag must be displayed when parking on campus. Registered permit holders are assigned to a specific lot/garage, which is indicated on the vehicle hangtag. Permit holders may only park in their specified assignment or risk citation. In the event a designated lot/garage is full, a permit holder may then park in an alternate lot but must stay within the specified parking zone. (Please consult the parking zone map to find alternate lots.)
Anyone residing in University residential housing units, apartments and/or affiliated housing will also need their housing designation on their permit.
Notes placed on vehicle dashboards (or anywhere else on vehicles) will not be recognized as valid parking permits. Call T&PS at 609-258-3157, or send email in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org, to obtain information for special parking needs.
Please note: Throughout the year, University traffic and parking assignments will be impacted by various events including, but not limited to: Student move in, Student move out, Commencement, Reunions, Athletic events and Construction.
• One hangtag should be used for all registered vehicles.
• Indicates parking zone and a lot assignment.
• Must be hung from the vehicle’s rearview mirror with assignment and expiration date visible through the vehicle windshield.
• You are encouraged to remove your hangtag while driving
• Must match your hangtag and confirms the vehicle is registered.
• One decal is provided for each vehicle registered and should be permanently affixed to the rear passenger window on the driver side of the vehicle.
Parking Access Off of Elm Drive:
Parking on the main campus between the two Public Safety (DPS) kiosks off of Elm Drive is restricted. Anyone with a compelling reason to park in these areas must send an email request to email@example.com or come into our office. Telephone requests will not be accepted. Receipt of requests does not constitute approval. All requests will either be confirmed or denied by email. If you have not received a response after 48 hours, contact Transportation & Parking Services (TPS) at (609) 258-3157. Once approved, all vehicles will be issued a special pass either from TPS, or DPS kiosk officer, for a designated area and a specific time limit. All passes must be properly displayed on the vehicle dashboard. After hour access is at the discretion of the kiosk officer. At ALL times, it is the driver’s responsibility to obtain a parking permit whether through TPS or DPS.
Parking from 2 am to 8 am, seven days a week, year round, is authorized based on University permit parking and lot only. Vehicles parked between the hours of 2 am and 8 am without a permit risk being towed or booted. Undergraduates may park overnight in the undergraduate lots only. Please note that Lots 8, 9, 11 and 18 are restricted at ALL times.
Drop-offs or Pick-ups:
Four-way flashers should be used for any drop-off or pick-up and should be limited to 15 minutes. Access to the main campus requires a special pass, properly displayed on the dashboard, for the designated area and time limitations must be respected. Access to the main campus is allowed after 5 pm at the kiosk access officer’s discretion.
As Portable Storage Units are becoming more and more popular as a means of transporting your personal belongings from residence to residence, the University has recognized that it is necessary to set guidelines to ensure that the units do not cause a disruption to vehicle parking.
• All units MUST be registered through T&PS with the unit registration number.
• Any unit that is not registered will be removed from the property at the renter’s expense.
• The unit may not be on site for more than 5 days.
• You must have the unit dropped in the designated area authorized by Transportation & Parking Services.
• There are a limited number of spaces that will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
• If a unit is dropped in an unapproved location or for a period of time longer than 5 days, the renter will receive a citation in the amount of $50.
Handicap and Medical Parking Needs:
If special parking accommodations are needed due to a temporary medical condition, vehicle owners must present appropriate documentation to University Health Service prior to obtaining a permit. For individuals with permanent disabilities a state-issued HC ID card must be registered with Transportation & Parking Services. HC parking spaces on campus are reserved for registered vehicles only. Vehicles must display a valid University parking permit along with an HC license plate or placard.
For visitors with HC placards or license plates, HC parking is available only in the designated spaces in the West Garage and Lot 23 weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. Frequent visitors who use these spaces should request a special permit from Transportation & Parking Services.
Bus parking is permitted in Lot 21 only.
