The Sexual Health Advisors are committed to raising awareness on campus about sexual health issues. Members are trained to facilitate small group discussions on a variety of topics affecting sexual health: sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV, safer sex, sexual decision-making, and communication. SHAs are also available to discuss these issues one-on-one with students and provide referrals to UHS for additional support.
SHA aims to help fellow students to feel more comfortable discussing sexual matters and encourages students to take an active role in their own sexual responsibility and health-care. SHA also addresses issues of power, gender stereotyping, and communication as they relate to sexual health. Because the sexual practices and sexual norms of different cultures vary widely, students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds and with experience from other cultures are encouraged to apply.
To join the Sexual Health Advisors, please print, fill out, and submit the application (PDF).
