Health Promotion and Prevention Services

HPPS advocates for the conditions necessary for the wellbeing of the Princeton community and all its members. Our values are central to how we do our work. We accomplish this through applying socioecological1 and justice perspectives2 to these four strategies:

  • Health promotion process and content expertise and consultation
  • Building community capacity through strategic partnerships
  • Training and skills-building
  • Assessment, research, and communications

Our initiatives for our campus community include:

  • BASICS: A confidential, individual conversation with a health educator about alcohol and/or cannabis use -- for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Consultation with campus partners: Contact us around planning, implementing and evaluating health and well-being projects across topic areas
  • Health behavior research: Research regarding undergraduate and graduate student behaviors and attitudes towards health
  • Health information and resources: Educate yourself on health topics including, alcohol use, sexual and reproductive health, physical fitness, and more
  • Task forces or committees: Leading efforts to further health and well-being among campus community members
  • Peer Health Advisers (PHAs): Students trained in providing peer support through education and referrals -- for undergraduate students
  • TigerWell: an initiative that engages staff, faculty and student partners in cultivating a campus community that supports the well-being of all of its members.
  • UMatter: a communications campaign in collaboration with CPS, SHARE, and student engagement specialists to provide tools to care for yourself and others
