INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
The Sexual Harassment/Assault Advising, Resources, and Education (SHARE) counseling staff provides free individual short-term counseling services for students, staff and faculty. SHARE services are strictly confidential.
GROUP PSYCHOTHERAPY
SHARE offers group counseling for sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse recovery.
Group counseling provides the opportunity to share concerns with other group members and work together to reach a better understanding of oneself and one’s situation or problems. For information about group availability, call (609) 258-3310.
Survivors of Sexual Assault
Membership: For female undergraduate and graduate students who have experienced sexual assault.
Focus: This group will help survivors to gain further insight and understanding of the effects and impact of sexual violence upon their lives and relationships and offer support in a safe, confidential environment. Survivors can share their experiences, express feelings, and work through issues they face on a daily basis with other survivors. This group will impart participants with coping skills, and address each participant's personal goals. Specific themes will be covered, including identifying unhealthy defensive emotional defensive strategies, confronting myths about sexual assault, and moving beyond survival to healing.
The group will help participants to:
- Set appropriate boundaries and limits
- Express and explore feelings including guilt, anger, shame
- Build healthy relationships
- Heal their sexuality
- Address issues of loss and grief
- Enhance coping skills
- Offer and receive support and feedback
Frequency: Weekly during the semester.
Time: (1 hour and 30 minutes) Specific day and time to be determined.
