In 2005, Princeton University began to formulate a comprehensive Housing Master Plan to enhance our housing programs for faculty, staff, and graduate students.The plan was developed using guiding principles and following procedures that included a comprehensive set of strategies, analyzing the present and future needs of graduate students, faculty and staff.
Plan Components
The details of this plan include the demolition, new construction and renovation of several housing properties, as well as the construction of new faculty and staff housing. To understand the need for these changes, it is important to evaluate the challenges presented by the University rental property units that exist today, some of which are more than 40 years old and at the end of their useful lives. Another important component of this plan is to sustain adequate capacity for both graduate and faculty and staff housing while maintaining a timeline for construction and renovation.
Details for Residents
The Housing Plan will have a significant impact on many residents, including the vacating of several properties during full renovations. The Housing Department will launch a services package to help those residents who require assistance.
