Lakeside Apartments for Graduate Housing

The design of Lakeside Apartments was a community effort that spanned a year of intensive design sessions with representatives from the university, development and architectural team, and graduate students. 

In the summer of 2010, the university selected American Campus Communities (ACC), one of the largest developers of student housing communities in the country , as the development partner to assist with determining the best residential plan for the Hibben-Magie site for graduate student housing.  The university and ACC presented the concept plan of the site at the April 7, 2011 Princeton Township REgional Planning Board meeting.  In March 2012, the unviersity and ACC will present the final site plan to the regional board for final site plan approval. 

Project Components:
  • Demolition of existing Hibben and Magie high-rise buildings
  • New construction of 329 units (74 townhouses and 255 apartment units)
  • 715 beds which is an increase of 28% from current Hibben-Magie beds
  • Apartments - 1  to 3-bedroom units with private and shared bathrooms
  • Townhouses - 3 to 4-bedroom units with private and shared bathrooms
  • Ground floor units are pet friendly
  • 6,000 SF community building to include fitness center, children's play room, study rooms, computer center and lounge areas with outdoor deck area

Housing Plan Timeline

Current Resident
Hibben and Magie contracts have been offered to graduate students on a yearly basis with the last contract year of July 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012.  Residents are being offered units at Stanworth starting in academic year 2012.
Construction Updates
Once construction startes, updates will be located on the Facilities Real Estate Development site.
