Wait List
What Is Wait List
A wait list occurs when there are no rooms available at the time of the sophomore college draws, the Upperclass Draw or when a student chooses voluntarily to place his or her name on the list rather than select a room. If rooms are available at room draw the Housing Office recommends that you draw a room rather than go onto a wait list.
Prioritizing Preferences
When applying for the Wait List, students can prioritize their dormitory preferences (i.e. single or suite) and add roommate preferences if so desired. Notes about other choices and detailed preferences regarding specific dormitories and/or square footage desired should be added in the comment section provided.
To Apply For The Wait List
To apply for the Wait List, you must complete a Wait List application located on the Undergraduate Housing Website, before the deadline. Please complete the form carefully so that you clearly communicate your criteria for a room.
Wait List Order and Assignment
The wait list is ordered by original room selection times from the sophomore college draws and from the Upperclass Draw only. Any student who did not participate in draw will be at the end of the wait list in order of application received. Sophomore wait listed students will be housed by their respective college by July. Upperclass wait listed students are assigned to vacant rooms and spaces in suites by early August. The assignments are made by utilizing rooms that have become available from cancellations. All Wait Listed applicants are guaranteed Housing. However specific accommodations are not promised.
If you applied for the Wait List, it is assumed that you intend to occupy your assigned room; hence you are subject to the rules and charges applied to cancellation of the housing contract. Wait listed students will have a two week period from the time notification of their assignment is sent to cancel without penalty. Once the two week period is over, a cancellation fee will be charged to the student’s account. Once classes begin or a key has been picked up, we reserve the right to charge one half of the semester’s rent.
