Greetings from President Tilghman
Congratulations on joining our community of scholars, a place where you will have an opportunity to explore the frontiers of knowledge with some of the world's most fertile and creative minds.
Over the course of the next four years, you will acquire an endless array of insights, in a broad range of fields, and you will experience the thrill that accompanies moments of discovery and synthesis in the classroom and laboratory. You will also learn that the quest for knowledge can be taxing and, at times, daunting, but I know that all of you will embark on this quest with determination, enthusiasm, and, above all, curiosity.
I hope that you will view your years with us as a time for more than purely intellectual growth. From our stages to our playing fields, from service organizations to international, national, and ethnic associations, from our residential colleges to our eating clubs, you will have a chance to develop and share your talents, and celebrate your identity as individuals and as Princetonians. I predict that your classmates will be among the most intriguing people you will ever meet, and you can expect the friendships that you form here to endure long after you have graduated.
This website will give you a taste of what you can expect to encounter on our campus, as well as some useful tools with which to navigate the unfamiliar but exciting waters before you. Please return to this site from time to time since it is updated on a regular basis, and invite your families to have a look as well. It will not answer all your questions, but it is an excellent place to start. And remember, questions lie at the very heart of universities, so never hesitate to raise them with your professors, with your classmates, and with me.
I look forward to meeting you in September.
Sincerely,
Shirley M. Tilghman
President
