Advising
Academic Support Overview
Here at Princeton there are many people available to help you with academics. Many of your more routine academic questions can be answered by your professor and by your assigned faculty adviser. As a freshmen and sophomore you are assigned a faculty advisor chosen from among Whitman College’s outstanding faculty fellows, and you have access to upperclass peer advisers. As a junior and senior you have an adviser within your major, but you are also encouraged to make use of Whitman's faculty fellows and address any non-routine advising questions to Dean Graves-Bayazitoglu. Resident Graduate Students, or RGSs, are another good sources of academic support here, and they live right in the College alongside you.
Within the College office, Dean Graves-Bayazitoglu and the Director of Studies are here to help you with your academic questions or concerns. They can help you with administrative procedures, explain university policies, and in extraordinary circumstances approve extensions. If you are struggling in a course and feel that one-on-one tutoring may be appropriate, they can help with that, as well. You can stop by the office or call 8-8900 to make an appointment to see Dean Graves-Bayazitoglu. You can also email the college secretary Sara Krause at sarak@princeton.edu.
