Roman Rafikov works on a broad range of dynamical problems and high-energy astrophysics. His current research focuses on the dynamics and formation of planetary systems, including physics of protoplanetary gaseous and planetesimal disks. He is interested in formation of both terrestrial and gas giant planets is the Solar System and around other stars. Structure, stability and dynamics of galactic and accretion disks are also among his primary interests. On the high-energy astrophysics side Roman Rafikov is interested in understanding physics of radio pulsar magnetospheres and probing the effects of general relativity with pulsar timing. Also, he is currently studying the transfer of material from accretion disks onto accreting objects such as young stars, white dwarfs and neutron stars with and without strong magnetic field.
