Myneni conducts experiments to understand a variety of biogeochemical processes, such as elemental cycling, biological chemistry of elements, and the fate and transport of contaminants in the environment. Myneni is specifically interested their fundamental aspects, such as the structure of water, and solvation and the complex formation of ions in aqueous solutions and at natural interfaces (mineral-water, organism-water, air-water). He also examines the chemistry of natural organic molecules and their chemical evolution during weathering reactions, and their influence on different elemental cycles.
