I grew up in Orlando, Florida, where I spent most of my adolescence devising my escape. I made a break for the cold climes of Cambridge, MA for undergrad, but I have found myself creeping back down the seaboard ever since. I came to Princeton in 2007 to study American history. My focus on the political, social and intellectual history of the American South gives me ample opportunity to think about—and occasionally visit—precisely the kinds of places I’d spent my youth running from. When I’m not working in windowless libraries or archives, I like to spend as much time outside as possible. During my free time I train for and compete in triathlons and other races for the not-particularly-athletic-but-tenacious.
