What social background is reflected from the archive? What kind of relations between Jews and Non-Jews is reflected in the archive? What role do women have in society? Is Babatha characteristic or outstanding for her times? How can we know that we are faithfully constructing a social history from these documents, rather than fantasizing fiction?
