Program in Latin American Studies Tuesday Luncheon Series:
A Decade of Contention: Dissecting the Moral Politics of Argentine Crowds

Nov. 7
Latino Heritage Month Inaugural Dinner
6 p.m.- 9 p.m., Friend Center, Convocation Room (follow signs)
- Come eat great Latino food.
- Featuring a keynote speaker, Jose del Valle, Professor of
Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures at CUNY-Graduate Center; socio-
linguist with research interests in language policy and identity in Spain and
Latin America and language ideologies and dialectology. At this event, he will
be focusing on language, identity, and defining what it means to be Latino.
- It will be a fun and interesting event full of good food,
dancing, and great insight into what it means to be Latino.
- $3 dollar surcharge, first come first serve
- Performances by Flamenco Puro, Ballet Foklorico, and
Princeton Capoeria
- Semi-formal attire preferred ( no jeans! )

Salsa Party after Inaugural Dinner

Hot Salsa, Merengue, etc. provided by NYC DJ…need we say more?!?!

Come here Professor Centeno discuss this issue that has been in the spotlight
not only on college campuses but throughout our nation.

PLAY: “Do Platanos Go Wit’ Collard Greens”
McCormik 101, 8 p.m.
This play examines the unique relationship between the Latino community and
African-American community in New York City through a love story between a
Dominican girl and an African-American boy.
Nov. 15
Latino Cook-off
Pyne Kitchen, 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
If you like to cook, if you’ve been missing a home-cooked meal, or if you just
like to eat, come to the Latino cook-off. This will be a chance for everyone to
cook and try different Latino dishes. If you know any Latino recipes and are
interested in cooking or just want to come to eat, please contact

Nov. 16
Spanish Mass at the Chapel
1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m., University Chapel
This Sunday the University Chapel will be giving mass in Spanish. This special
mass will be conducted by Father Velez. If your used to having mass in Spanish
at home, or have never heard mass in Spanish, come out to this special event.
Gospel Concert
Taplin Auditorium, time TBA
This event will be featuring great Gospel music. Come out to hear great music,
go to a great follow up event from the Spanish mass, or as a study break!

Never gotten the opportunity to show your appreciation for the people who keep
this university running?? Here’s your chance to learn about issues that affect
both students and university staff, build relationships with our staff, and
celebrate with a party!

Huge Salsa Party with Live 10-piece Band!!!!!!!!!
Cloister Inn, 10pm -2am
This is the big closing celebration for Latino Heritage Month. This party will
be featuring a live salsa band, Los Seneros del Barrio, straight from New York
City. Every year the salsa party blowout bash lives up to its billing as one of
the hottest parties of the year. Expect the same result this time around. Come
on out for the fiesta!
Nov. 23
Soccer tournament
Dillon Gym, 12 noon- 2 p.m.
Come out and show off your soccer skills, or if don’t have any come out anyway
for a fun game that will involve the entire Princeton community. This will be a
great way to kick off your Sunday after partying all night at the Salsa Party.
