Arlington is a community (and census-designated place) in Dutchess County, New York, United States. As of the 2000 census, the CDP population was 12,481.

Arlington is a suburb of the City of Poughkeepsie and is in the Town of Poughkeepsie. It is part of the Poughkeepsie–NewburghMiddletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New YorkNewarkBridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area.



Arlington is located at 41°41′42″N 73°53′31″W / 41.695°N 73.89194°W / 41.695; -73.89194 (41.694943, -73.892054)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.9 square miles (12.7 km2), of which 4.9 square miles (12.7 km2) is land and 0.20% is water.


As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 12,481 people, 4,362 households, and 2,516 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,552.5 per square mile (985.5/km²). There were 4,590 housing units at an average density of 938.7/sq mi (362.4/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 77.01% White, 12.27% African American, 0.18% Native American, 6.09% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.87% from other races, and 2.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.38% of the population.
