Boone County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is part of the Boone, Iowa, Micropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses all of Boone County, Iowa, and which, when combined with the Ames, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area, comprises the larger Ames-Boone, Iowa Combined Statistical Area.[1] As of 2000, the population of the county was 26,224. Its county seat is Boone.[2]



According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 574 square miles (1,486.7 km2), of which 571 square miles (1,478.9 km2) is land and 2 square miles (5.2 km2) (0.36%) is water.
