Bottom is an award-winning British sitcom of the early 1990s[1] (and later a series of stage shows), written by and starring comic duo Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall as the crude, deranged Eddie and Richie, two desperate flatmates on the dole. The programme ran for three series on the BBC, spawned five live stage tours between 1993 and 2003, and a film adaptation in 1999 entitled Guest House Paradiso. All their material is now available on VHS and DVD. Bottom is repeated in the UK on channels GOLD & Dave.

Sometimes controversial in nature (particularly the stage shows), Bottom is noted for its chaotic humour and highly violent slapstick.[2] Bottom was named at number 45 in the 'Britain's Best Sitcom' poll.[3] The show has also been dubbed in other languages. In Spain the show is known as La pareja basura and was broadcast by "Canal_+" Channel.

The theme music was provided by a band of which Edmondson was a member, The Bum Notes.
