Buies Creek is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the Neills Creek Township of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,215 at the 2000 census.

History

Incorporation

The town of Buies Creek was incorporated by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1914. The town charter was repealed in 1967.[3]

Geography

Buies Creek is locatd at 35°24′37″N 78°44′20″W / 35.41028°N 78.73889°W / 35.41028; -78.73889 (35.410232, -78.974165)[4].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²), of which, 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²) of it is land and 89.27% is water.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 2,215 people, 612 households, and 211 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 974.0 people per square mile (376.7/km²). There were 698 housing units at an average density of 306.9/sq mi (118.7/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 84.20% White, 10.16% African American, 0.36% Native American, 2.71% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.31% from other races, and 1.22% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.08% of the population.
