Calverton Park is a village in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,322 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Calverton Park is located at 38°45′57″N 90°18′55″W / 38.76583°N 90.31528°W / 38.76583; -90.31528 (38.765827, -90.315416)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.1 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,322 people, 494 households, and 345 families residing in the village. The population density was 3,154.5 people per square mile (1,215.3/km²). There were 521 housing units at an average density of 1,243.2/sq mi (479.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 74.96% White, 22.24% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.30% from other races, and 1.97% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.83% of the population.

There were 494 households out of which 34.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.6% were married couples living together, 19.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.22.

In the village the population was spread out with 28.8% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 90.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.8 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $44,632, and the median income for a family was $49,375. Males had a median income of $34,500 versus $26,875 for females. The per capita income for the village was $25,723. About 8.1% of families and 9.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 15.4% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
