Carbon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Montana. It is part of the Billings, Montana Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2000, the population was 9,552. Its county seat is Red Lodge.[1]



According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,062 square miles (5,340.6 km2), of which 2,048 square miles (5,304.3 km2) is land and 14 square miles (36.3 km2) (0.69%) is water.
