Carlisle (pronounced /ˈkɑrlaɪl/)[3] is a small city located in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Ohio in northwestern Warren and southern Montgomery counties. As of the 2000 census, the city's population was 5,121, up from 4,872 in 1990. It is in Franklin Township, Warren County, Ohio and German Township, Montgomery County, Ohio.

The Warren County portion of Carlisle is part of the CincinnatiMiddletown, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Montgomery County portion is part of the Dayton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The city of Carlisle is famous for a double UFO house off of Chamberlain Road. The UFO house has become a landmark for area residents.

Geography

Carlisle is located at 39°34′47″N 84°19′9″W / 39.57972°N 84.31917°W / 39.57972; -84.31917 (39.579836, -84.319288)[4].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.6 square miles (9.2 km²), of which, 3.4 square miles (8.8 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (4.49%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 5,121 people, 1,849 households, and 1,475 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,504.7 people per square mile (581.5/km²). There were 1,937 housing units at an average density of 569.2/sq mi (220.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.38% White, 0.23% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.57% of the population.
