Carter County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population was 45,621. Its county seat is Ardmore[1].

Carter County is part of the Ardmore, Oklahoma, Micropolitan Statistical Area. Carter County is the second fastest growing in Oklahoma in population growth rates (25 percent in the 1990s) and the new population estimate is over 60,000.



According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 834 square miles (2,160.1 km2), of which 824 square miles (2,134.2 km2) is land and 10 square miles (25.9 km2) (1.19%) is water.
