Centerburg is a village in Knox County, Ohio, United States, along the North Fork of the Licking River. As of the 2000 census, the village population was 1,432.

Geography

Centerburg is located at 40°18′16″N 82°41′44″W / 40.304377°N 82.695580°W / 40.304377; -82.695580.[3]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.7 km2), all of it land.

Although Centerburg lies near the geographic center of the state, hence the name, the actual center of the state is located about 25 miles north-northeast of Columbus, in Delaware County.[4]

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,432 people, 504 households, and 363 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,228.5 people per square mile (863.9/km2). There were 537 housing units at an average density of 835.7/sq mi (324.0/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.91% White, 0.49% African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.07% from other races, and 0.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.07% of the population.

There were 504 households out of which 42.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 11.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.8% were non-families. 25.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.16.
