Champaign County is a county located in the state of Ohio, United States. As of the 2000 census, the population was 38,890. Its county seat is Urbana[2]. It takes its name from the French word for "open level country".[3]

The Urbana Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Champaign County.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 430 square miles (1,113.7 km2). 429 square miles (1,111.1 km2) is land and 1 square mile (2.6 km2) (0.27%) is water.
