The cinema of Australia has a long history. Australia was a pioneer in the production of feature films, beginning with The Story of the Kelly Gang in 1906 and has produced many internationally-recognised films, actors and filmmakers.

Commercially successful Australian films have included Paul Hogan's Crocodile Dundee, Baz Luhrmann's Australia and George Miller's Babe. Other award winning productions include Picnic at Hanging Rock, Gallipoli, The Tracker and Ten Canoes. Australian trained actors of renown include Errol Flynn, Peter Finch, Rod Taylor, Mel Gibson, Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.
