Deer Park is an affluent village in Lake and Cook Counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 3,102 at the 2000 census. The village is home to popular shopping and dining destinations: Deer Park Town Center and the Town Center Promenade. The town is also home to the Vehe Farm, an Illinois Centennial Farm.

The Village of Deer Park offers pleasant suburban living with a touch of charm, with a number of ponds and lakes, small and large, throughout the area, and rolling open countryside. Northwest inside and just outside of the village one finds the Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve that is a veritable gold mine for birdwatchers and where you also find other wildlife. Cuba Marsh is a haven for hiking, bicycling and cross-country skiing. Just south of the village is the 1,800-acre (7.3 km2) Deer Grove Forest Preserve that offers walking and paved bicycle trails.

Residential zoning is mainly single family homes with lot of sizes of 1-acre (4,000 m2) or more. Upscale townhomes are available near the Deer Park Center. Metra/Chicago & Northwestern train line provides commuter service to Chicago with a station in nearby Barrington.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.7 square miles (9.6 km²), of which, 3.7 square miles (9.5 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (1.62%) is water.


As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 3,102 people, 989 households, and 899 families residing in the village. The population density was 850.7 people per square mile (328.1/km²). There were 1,010 housing units at an average density of 277.0/sq mi (106.8/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 95.97% White, 0.58% African American, 0.06% Native American, 2.42% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.26% from other races, and 0.68% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.52% of the population.
