East Dundee is a village in Kane County and a small section in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 2,955 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.5 km²), of which, 2.7 square miles (6.9 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²) of it (7.90%) is water.


As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 2,955 people, 1,228 households, and 878 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,103.1 people per square mile (425.7/km²). There were 1,258 housing units at an average density of 469.6/sq mi (181.2/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 94.15% White, 0.98% African American, 0.10% Native American, 1.73% Asian, 1.73% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.93% of the population.

There were 1,228 households out of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.4% were married couples living together, 8.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.5% were non-families. 23.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.83.
