Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of 2000, the population was 8,448. Its county seat is Meadville[1]. Franklin County is named after Founding Father Benjamin Franklin.



According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 567 square miles (1,468.5 km2), of which 565 square miles (1,463.3 km2) is land and 2 square miles (5.2 km2) (0.38%) is water.
