Freeport is a city in Stearns County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 454 at the 2000 census. It is part of the St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Freeport is located in Oak Township, T125N R32W §3. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²), of which, 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²) of it is land and 1.12% is water.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 454 people, 190 households, and 132 families residing in the city. The population density was 514.3 people per square mile (199.2/km²). There were 199 housing units at an average density of 225.4/sq mi (87.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.34% White, 0.22% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.88% of the population.

There were 190 households out of which 26.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% were non-families. 27.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 21.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.88.
