Freestone County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of 2000, the population was 17,867. Its county seat is Fairfield[1].

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 892 square miles (2,310.3 km2), of which 877 square miles (2,271.4 km2) is land and 15 square miles (38.8 km2) (1.65%) is water.
