George County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of 2000, the population was 19,144. Its county seat is Lucedale[1]. George County is named for James Z. George, US Senator from Mississippi.

George County is included in the Pascagoula, Mississippi, Metropolitan Statistical Area.

It is a dry county.
