Gilmer County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia. It was created on December 3, 1832. As of 2000, the population was 23,456. The 2007 Census Estimate shows a population of 28,389.[1] The county seat is Ellijay.[2]



According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 432 square miles (1,118.9 km2), of which 427 square miles (1,105.9 km2) is land and 5 square miles (12.9 km2) (1.19%) is water.
