Groveland is a city in Lake County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,360 at the 2000 census. The Census Bureau estimated the population in 2008 to be 7,647.[1] It is located at the intersection of State Road 19 and State Road 33/50.

Groveland is part of the OrlandoKissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area.



Groveland is located at 28°33′28″N 81°51′7″W / 28.55778°N 81.85194°W / 28.55778; -81.85194 (28.557853, -81.851918)[4].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.8 km² (3.0 mi²). 6.8 km² (2.6 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it (12.91%) is water.


As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 7,901 people, 845 households, and 626 families residing in the city. The population density was 346.5/km² (897.1/mi²). There were 921 housing units at an average density of 135.2/km² (350.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 68.81% White, 22.42% African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.55% Asian, 6.27% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14.70% of the population.

There were 845 households out of which 35.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.1% were married couples living together, 12.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.8% were non-families. 21.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.23.
