The Hyksos (Egyptian heqa khasewet, "foreign rulers"; Greek Ὑκσώς, Ὑξώς, Arabic: الملوك الرعاة, shepherd kings) were an Asiatic people who took over the eastern Nile Delta in the Twelfth dynasty of Egypt, initiating the Second Intermediate Period of Ancient Egypt[3].
