Iselin (pronounced /ˈɪzɛlɪn/) is a census-designated place and unincorporated area within Woodbridge Township, in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the CDP population was 16,698.

Geography

Iselin is located at 40°34′29″N 74°19′00″W / 40.574603°N 74.316799°W / 40.574603; -74.316799 (40.574603, -74.316799).[3]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.1 km2 (3.1 mi2), all land.

Education

As part of Woodbridge Township, Iselin uses the Woodbridge Township School District to serve its students. Elementary Schools #18, #24 and #26 are located in Iselin as well as Iselin Middle School and John F. Kennedy Memorial High School.

Downtown area

In the last decade, Iselin has built up a downtown area along Oak Tree Road, County Route 604 (this vibrant area also extends into Edison, New Jersey.) The downtown area is made up mostly of shops selling Indian food, sweets, clothing (particularly saris), jewelry, music, and other goods.[citation needed]

Metropark

An area known as Metropark, consisting primarily of office parks and large office buildings, lies in the southwestern corner of Iselin and spills over into neighboring Edison. The New Jersey Transit and Amtrak Metropark Station is named for this area. In addition to a Hilton Hotel and the train station, Metropark also features the headquarters of Engelhard Corporation (acquired by BASF in 2006) and Eaton Corporation's Filtration Division. Other corporate residents in the area include Siemens AG, the law firm of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis, Tata Consultancy Services, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Accenture, Level 3, BT (British Telecom) and UBS AG.
