Kane County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2000, the population of the county was 404,119. The population estimate by the U.S. Census Bureau for 2008 is 507,579.[1] This county is part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. Its county seat is Geneva, [2] and its largest city is Aurora.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 524 square miles (1,357 km²), of which 520 square miles (1,348 km²) is land and 4 square miles (9 km²) (0.69%) is water. Its largest cities are situated along the Fox River.
