According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.4 square miles (91.6 km²), of which 35.1 square miles (90.9 km²) is land and 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²) (0.76%) is water.

The southeast half of the city of Cobden is within this township geographically but is a separate entity.
