Linn County (county code LN) is a county located in East Central Kansas, in the Central United States. The population was estimated to be 9,335 in the year 2009.[1] Its county seat is Mound City,[2] and its most populous city is Pleasanton. Linn County is a part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.


Law and government

Following amendment to the Kansas Constitution in 1986, the county remained a prohibition, or "dry", county until 2004, when voters approved the sale of alcoholic liquor by the individual drink with a 30% food sales requirement.[3]


According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 606 square miles (1,570 km²), of which 599 square miles (1,551 km²) is land and 8 square miles (20 km²), or 1.26%, is water.[4]
