Lyon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of 2000, the population was 8,080. Its county seat is Eddyville[1]. The county is named for Chittenden Lyon.

It is a limited dry county, meaning that the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited except by the drink in restaurants in the city of Kuttawa that seat at least 100 diners and derive at least 70% of total sales from food.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 256 square miles (663 km2), of which 216 square miles (559 km2) is land and 41 square miles (106 km2) is water.

The racial makeup of the county was 91.86% White, 6.72% Black or African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 0.54% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
