Marathon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It is part of the Wausau, WI, Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2000, the population was 125,834. Its county seat is Wausau.[1]

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,576 square miles (4,082 km²), of which 1,545 square miles (4,001 km²) are land and 31 square miles (81 km²) (1.98%) are water. Marathon County is the largest county in Wisconsin by land area.
