Marion County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of July 2009, its population was estimated at 890,874 making it the largest county in the state and 55th most populated county in the country, greater than the population of six states. The county seat is Indianapolis, the state capital and largest city.[1] Marion County is sometimes considered coterminous with Indianapolis proper.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 403 square miles (1,044 km²), of which 396 square miles (1,026 km²) is land and 7 square miles (18 km²) (1.68%) is water.
