Newaygo County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is part of the Grand RapidsWyoming, MI, Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 census, the population was 47,874. The county seat is White Cloud[1]. Newaygo County was either named for an Ojibwe leader who signed the Saginaw Treaty of 1819[2] or for a Native American word meaning much water.[3] See List of Michigan county name etymologies.
