Oak Harbor is a village in Ottawa County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,841 at the 2000 census. It is the location of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, one of two nuclear power plants in Ohio.



Oak Harbor is located at 41°30′46″N 83°8′48″W / 41.51278°N 83.14667°W / 41.51278; -83.14667 (41.512773, -83.146578)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.8 km²), of which, 1.3 square miles (3.4 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (9.52%) is water.

The Portage River runs through Oak Harbor on its way to Lake Erie at Port Clinton, Ohio


As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 2,841 people, 1,162 households, and 788 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,140.2 people per square mile (824.7/km²). There were 1,217 housing units at an average density of 916.8/sq mi (353.3/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.13% White, 0.07% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 0.32% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.94% of the population.

There were 1,162 households out of which 33.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.1% were non-families. 27.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 2.98.
