Otter Creek is a city in Levy County, Florida, United States. The population was 121 at the 2000 census. As of 2007, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 129.[2]



Otter Creek is located at 29°19′24″N 82°46′22″W / 29.323435°N 82.772708°W / 29.323435; -82.772708.[5]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.45 square miles (3.8 km2). 1.43 square miles (3.7 km2) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.1 km2) of it (1.38%) is water.[1]


As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 121 people, 54 households, and 32 families residing in the city. The population density was 84.7 people per square mile (32.7/km²). There were 70 housing units at an average density of 49.0/sq mi (18.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.39% White, 3.31% African American, 2.48% from other races, and 0.83% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.96% of the population.

There were 54 households out of which 22.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.9% were married couples living together, 3.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.7% were non-families. 31.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 2.91.

In the city the population was spread out with 17.4% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 20.7% from 25 to 44, 37.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 108.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $18,036, and the median income for a family was $19,821. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,101. There were 12.1% of families and 20.2% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 17.2% of those over 64.
