Perryville is a city in and the county seat of Perry County, Arkansas, United States.[1] The population was 1,458 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Little RockNorth Little RockConway Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Perryville is located at 35°0′21″N 92°48′11″W / 35.00583°N 92.80306°W / 35.00583; -92.80306 (35.005800, -92.802949)[2].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.8 square miles (12.4 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 1,458 people, 568 households, and 379 families residing in the city. The population density was 305.6 people per square mile (118.0/km²). There were 626 housing units at an average density of 131.2/sq mi (50.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.39% White, 0.62% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.55% from other races, and 1.30% from two or more races. 0.82% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 568 households out of which 32.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.8% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.1% were non-families. 31.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 3.04.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 21.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 84.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.4 males.
