Prague (pronounced /ˈpreɪɡ/) is a city in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 2,138 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Prague is located at 35°29′10″N 96°41′16″W / 35.48611°N 96.68778°W / 35.48611; -96.68778 (35.486092, -96.687792)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.6 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 2,138 people, 864 households, and 567 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,211.6 people per square mile (469.0/km²). There were 1,021 housing units at an average density of 578.6/sq mi (224.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 83.07% White, 3.70% African American, 9.92% Native American, 0.33% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 2.90% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.12% of the population.

There were 864 households out of which 31.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.9% were married couples living together, 11.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.3% were non-families. 30.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.91.

In the city the population was spread out with 25.3% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 19.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 84.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.9 males.
