Richland is a city in Camden, Laclede, and Pulaski counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. The population was 1,805 at the 2000 census.



Richland is located at 37°51′32″N 92°24′10″W / 37.85889°N 92.40278°W / 37.85889; -92.40278 (37.858875, -92.402788)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²), of which, 2.3 square miles (5.9 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.87%) is water.


As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,805 people, 806 households, and 490 families residing in the city. The population density was 795.7 people per square mile (307.0/km²). There were 932 housing units at an average density of 410.8/sq mi (158.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.34% White, 0.17% African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 0.55% from other races, and 1.66% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.55% of the population.

There were 806 households out of which 28.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.3% were married couples living together, 12.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.1% were non-families. 35.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.81.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 21.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 82.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.5 males.
